Due to the use of proxy servers, caches, and other intermediary online devices, there is often hidden usage of the online material beyond the activity recorded in our server logs.  Therefore, the report does not necessarily represent total usage at your site.  Usage is reported and measured only after users have been authenticated by IP account to receive "subscriber-only" material.  It is possible for users at your institution to request tables of contents and journal home pages prior to authentication, which would therefore not be counted in the totals.  In addition, the numbers recorded are for successful requests; and not all download requests are successful, although the number of unsuccessful requests is small.  Counts for image files (graphics) are not included in the totals. Usage statistics for APS journals include requests for material from journals published within the past 3 years. Material from earlier volumes is made available through the Physical Review Online Archive (PROLA).
*Home Page usage data includes requests for home pages (if the journal maintains a home page) and other associated links within the journal pages. Additional requests include help pages, subscription information, 'About the Journal' pages, information for authors, advertising office page and others.
